In the Spotlight: Local Food and Local Producers in North Savo and Kuopio region
Local Food Week (5 - 9 Oct, 2020) shocases North Savo's local producers and local food in schools and educational institutions i.e. among the consumers of the future. Many of the school kitchens, staff & student restaurants in the region have special local food menus during the week and they take extra care to use local produce in the teaching kitchens as well as in lunch restaurants. The week is part of a project concentrating on making local food known and valued in the region called "Savolaisuus on makuasia" (Savonian is a matter of taste).

Servica (www.servica.fi) is also part of the local food week organisers. Servica takes part on Thu 5 Oct by offering on the day a local food lunch in all of their service points in the Kuopio region. Servica provides thousands of meals on weekdays at numerous locations in the Kuopio region. They offer food at day care centres, schools, hospitals, service centres and sheltered housing facilities and at lunch restaurants on our clients’ premises. They also deliver meals to the City of Kuopio’s home care clients.
